Guided visit

Following in the footsteps of Georges Reuter, let's get to know the plants of our canton

Tuesday 13 August 2024, 17:30

This lifelong acting director has gone unnoticed in the history of the Geneva BG.Yet he produced the first catalogue of plants for the Canton and built up a monumental and fragile herbarium collection

Georges Reuter's ambition was to federate the efforts of local universities and botanical gardens for the benefit of biodiversity conservation, harvesters, growers and the craftspeople concerned, in a vast programme to harvest, cultivate and disseminate germplasms.

Follow the presentation dedicated to Georges Reuter.
This guided tour is part of the “Variations botaniques” series and complements "Our Illustrious Scientists", an exhibition included in COLLECTOR and dedicated to the great names in botany who have marked the history of the Geneva Botanical Garden and whose remarkable contributions to our collections are on display to mark the 200th anniversary of the Conservatoire.
