Joel Calvo

After undertaking a Ph.D. on Eurasian Senecio (Compositae) in the Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid (Spain), I have been working on Andean Senecioneae since 2015. I am a specialist in taxonomy and nomenclature, as well as an active plant collector. Other interests include plant systematics and phytogeography. My work is mainly focused on the tribe Senecioneae in the Andes and Madagascar. 
I did two postdocs, one at the Universidade Federal da Bahia (Brazil) and another at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (Chile). Since March 2021, I am a research assistant here, where I co-edit the journals Candollea and Boissiera and continue studying the Andean and Malagasy daisies.
