Types of document

Our mission is to own all works dealing with the plant world, particularly those relating to taxonomy and floristics. The collection consists of books, periodicals, offprints and works of reference.

The library of the CJBG is rich in precious collections, including:

  • The general collection (works of reference, specific disciplines, systematics, flora, taxonomic monographs, geography of plants, history of botany and biographies of botanists),
  • The pre-Linnean collection (all botanical publications before 1753),
  • The Linnean collection (the publications of Carl von Linné and his students),
  • The Archives,
  • The free, digitalised collection of the Flore des Dames de Genève

Consulting documents

For reasons of heritage and conservation, public access to the shelving is not permitted. However, all works in the collection may be consulted free of charge on request. A minimum of one day’s notice is required when consulting old or valuable works. Please do not hesitate to visit or contact us by email or telephone.
